The British Motorcar Festival
Bristol, Rhode Island
June 11th -14th, 2015

Plans continue to develop for what should prove to be a most significant event for British Motorcar Owners and Enthusiasts.

The Thursday, June 11th “Bristol Hidden Highway Hundred Rally” should be a most exciting event as we have selected 100 miles of the best coastal and back roads in Southern Rhode Island. Motorcars will start to depart at 9:30 AM from Colt State Park on an individual basis. The Route will bring you to Sakonnet Vineyards with lunch served on the lawn with a display of our cars. Wine service will be included. Wine tasting can be purchased for a nominal fee from the vineyard and special discounts will be available to Rally members wishing to add to their wine cellars or for weekend enjoyment. For those wishing to stay on or return to the Vineyard there will be a live music concert on Thursday as well. We will supply special car cards for display while parked on the grounds of Sakonnet Vineyard. We are working on producing a special collectable, Monte Carlo style rally plate. Based on expressed interest of the attendees and their numbers, we will plan for an optional Thursday evening dinner in the Bristol area. The roads and the scenery in the region we will travel are most impressive and memorable, so plan to bring a camera along. Since we have to plan for your personalized luncheon selections, wine service, and collateral materials, this road rally will be limited to pre-registered motor cars only. The registration cost will cover your motorcar, driver and first guest, to include lunch and wine service. Once you have registered we will send you a luncheon selection menu.

On Friday, June 12th Registrants will collect their Registration Packages at the Registration Tent at Colt State Park. We are offering a “Fun Rally” developed by the Town of Bristol where you will be challenged to answer a few questions while on the detailed route. If you answer the questions correctly, you will be eligible to win prizes Friday evening. Speaking of Friday, evening we will assemble at Colt State Park and parade to downtown Bristol, preceded by Paul Revere on horseback proclaiming to the citizenry that “the British are coming”. We will enjoy reserved British Motorcar Parking in and around “Independence Park”. Parking passes will be issued as you leave the park. From 6:30 to 9:30 PM, the Town of Bristol will host our Registrants and Guests and the local Community with a Live Band performance by “Abbey Rhode”. Food and beverages will be available in the park or at a variety of dining options within easy walking distance from the park, which is located right on Narragansett Bay. One of my favorite local Restaurants, “Redlefsen’s” is located across from Independence Park and has an excellent Clam Chowder, some great entrées, and impressive bar with a wide variety of imported beers. For a Car Club in search of a small sized function room for dinner they have that as well.

Saturday, June 13th will be truly amazing, based on the venue and interest we have received so far for the event. The weekend is based upon the British Invasion in Stowe Vermont, with a few changes. First off, we are building a World Class British Concours d’Elegance, as we have been told that there is No invitational All-British Concours d’Elegance anywhere in the USA. We have been working to identify and invite some exceptional examples of British Motoring Excellence and you are invited as well, to refer potential entries for our Selection Team to consider and accept. Simply email us and request a Concours Application. We will build individual Concours Classes based upon the motorcars selected. We are also planning to host a special reception for the owners of the Concours Motorcars selected.

Also New for the British Motorcar Festival is the “Race Car Paddock,” complete with hay bales and special recognition. We have already identified some amazing British Racing Cars to have on display, some with very interesting racing histories associated. Those with Race Cars will be able to register using the British Classic Registration Form. The same is true for those wishing to offer a British Motorcar for sale in our Car Corral. To this we hope to add an impressive display of British Motorcar Dealers offering the latest in British Motoring Excellence for your consideration. And we are still not done! Next, we hope to present and honor a deserving “British Motorcar Enthusiast of the Year,” complete with a representative collection of British motorcars from their private collection.

The British Classic Motorcar Show is the heart of our weekend of activities as we will offer over sixty (60) separate classes for British Motorcars of all make, model, and description. This competition is based upon People’s Choice and Yes, we will need a few volunteers to help us count the ballots. As we go to press with the Ballot Books, this will our last opportunity to expand or consolidate classes based upon pre-registrations as of that date. Awards will be presented for first, second and third place based upon the number of cars on the show field at 12:00 Noon on Saturday. Because of the time required to layout out the show field and to accommodate those who have pre-registe4rd, we will NOT register additional show entries after the published cut-off date. There will be no new registrations accepted for processing at the show field on Friday.

For the Ladies, we will start Saturday with the arrival of our very own “Queen” in her horse driven Royal coach to a colonial canon salute. Our Queen will hold court and assemble the ladies for a Royal “Ladies Hat Competition” with awards presented. To add to the merriment, we have invited the car show registrants and their guests, as well as the General Public to impress our judges, who will be roving the show grounds incognito seeking the best examples of “British Attire” to recognize and award. The themes can be varied, could be Sherlock Holms, Robin Hood, Lady Marion, Winston Churchill, Sir Lancelot, Elton John, your favorite Beatle, just about anyone, well except for the “Queen,’’ as there can only be one Queen. You might wear your grandfather’s kilt or come dressed in fashion we have not yet thought of. Our judges will be tasked with selecting the Best of the Best.

Saturday will attract our vendors in the British Marketplace seeking a few of your crispies for British Motoring accessories, Motoring books, scale model motorcars, NOS Parts, Services, Ladies jewelry and fashion, or perhaps some British Motorcar Festival regalia. Perhaps you might find a local craft vendor presenting something very special for your consideration. Then add to this an amazing collection of “British Invasion” Music in the background to add to the flavor of the day. Based on interest and availability we may just add a very special Theme dinner on Saturday evening to round out the day.

Sunday, June 14th - the fun continues. We will start with a 45 minute morning run for those wishing to see more of the coastal highways and backgrounds that they may have missed on Thursday. Meanwhile back at the show grounds at Colt State Park, people will be setting up for the “Tailgate Picnic Competition” and the “Competition of Colors”. The British Market and car Corral will be in full swing as we present a special drive-by of the First Place Winners from the Saturday British Classic Motorcar Show on the shores of Narragansett Bay.

Our website, http://www.britishmotorcarfestival.com contains registration information as well as a roster of nearby accommodations and restaurants for your reference. We hope that you will mark your calendars and plan to attend this most significant British Motoring Lifestyle event. The first 200 to Register will receive a special,1st Annual British Motorcar Festival Meet Gift, and YES, people are signing up now for June. You can register on-line using PayPal or download the registration form and mail it in. Remember to mark your calendars for the weekend of the third Saturday in the month of September (18th-20th) and join us in Stowe, Vermont for the 25th Year Celebration of the “British Invasion,” the largest All-British Motorcar Show and lifestyle event in the Eastern United States.

Happy Motoring to all and to all a Good Day!

Also understand that Bristol RI is a south to north city layout, with only a 2 lane bridge in its south entrance that acts as the major FUNNEL to the RI party town of Newport. West of this city is ocean and East has minimal roadways. Expect very large traffic problems. I always avoid this area from 8:30am till 9:00pm on weekends. Week days can be awful too.lots of stop signs and lights on all the roadways. The town is nice, people friendly, but this is not the best for motor events due to it's very restrictive and poor quality road system. Plan ahead to park and walk about. Restaurants will be packed with the surrounding locals. The Stow event has a much better geography less dense population and roads without pot holes.Good luck with it.Frank
