Add a new accessory?
Take it out for a drive on twisty back roads?

Visited my concourse quality 1986 XJS-HE in the high desert in beautiful AZ. DECIDED TO REPLACE FLUIDS AND LUBRICATE. FOUND SOMETRANNY FLUID ON THE FLOOR. BILL WITH NEWLY PACKED FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS ABOUT $800 US! I REALISED THE BILL CAMETO ABOUT $50 US OVER THE PAST 6 YEARS AND SAME GOING FORWARD. STILL NEED TRANNY WORK AND TO REPLACE BUSHINGS.

The advantages of living in the South West huh??

$50 a year isn't too bad at all. That transmission fluid can be a pain to clean up though. I usually break down a couple of boxes and lay the cardboard under the engine & trans when I'm storing a car for the winter, just in case it decides to leave a few drips.

What kind of fluid did you refill your XJS-HE's transmission with?

Skye

Replacing the exhaust pipe and the resonator, the old, right side, resonator was full of fiberglass and catalytic converter stuff. After that I'll block off the AAV, I rebuilt it a few weeks ago, but that didn't help. Then, Top up the coolant and we'll be ready for some road time-well maybe we'll wait for some of the snow to melt.

Thursday 2/22/14-New alt and all belts, still no charge.
Friday 2/21/14-Unhook the voltage dump module, charging. Took a 15 mile test drive, temp good, charging good, brakes O.K.+, suspension good, steering could be sharper. Then I drove it to work. No new issues.
Saturday 2/22/14-The cat is my son's first car, and after 5 months of working on it he got to drive it to work, no new issues.

The steering on the jag was very vague. After some research I checked the rack for movement and that was the problem. I made two spacers, 10mmX40mm with a 5/8" hole. I put one on the outside of the bottom steering rack mount bushings, that tightened up the steering. I'll replace the bushing in spring, if it ever gets here.
