I agree, the whitewalls look great! Really complement the other chrome lines on the car.

Hi Skye,
I Have not seen a Morris Minor for years and suddenly they are showing up.
We even saw an MM racing version at the SOVREN races at the Pacific Raceway in Kent Wa june 28. Will post pics and a short video on the MM forum. That's not a standard engine - no kidding.

Sounds like a great way to spend the weekend, thanks for sharing your photos!
If you're looking for a Morris Minor, I happen to run a website for those as well

Morris R/T haha... nice photo! There are a few around, like any classic car not everyone appreciates the custom/hotrod modifications, but that one looks really nicely done.

Yes Skye. The vintage enthusiast versus the custom hot rodder is not an issue with me, as both interests are expressions of dedication to rewarding projects and meticulous workmanship. I enjoy and appreciate both but my interests lie more in the classic car restorations and now towards the classic racecars - a new interest. I guess that I like the sound of engines. Must be a rollover from flying aircraft and attending air shows.

Michelle had heard about an All British Cruise In and Show in the Portland, OR area today, so we decided to take the E-Type for a little drive. The round trip turned out to be about 230 miles, the farthest we have driven it since we brought it to the left coast from Atlanta, GA. To share the driving "chores", Michelle drove down and I drove back home. Since we were hurrying a bit to get there, it wasn't as much fun going down. We only hit a couple miles of I-5 on the way back. The back roads were uncrowded and pleasant to drive.
There were about 20 participants including a Jag XJS-V12. Many were MGB's, but there was a nicely restored MGA. There were two Sunbeam Alpines, and one was an immaculate 1953 like the one that Grace Kelly drove in "To Catch a Thief. To round things out, there was a Healy 3000, a Jensen Healy and two Triumphs, a TR-6 and a Stag.
While there wasn't a huge turnout, we met some really nice folks and learned a few tricks to try on our MGB. I'll leave it to Michelle to post some photos.

A most enjoyable day with some interesting people and vintage British cars. It was very informative as we had plenty of time to talk with most of the participants. We drove back over uncluttered two lane highways thoroughly enjoying open road cruising. A day well spent.

While I played my trombone in an art and jazz gathering in Centralia (WA), Michelle took the E-Type to Chehalis (WA, the next town south) and entered it in a car show. It was one of two LBC's, the other being a very nicely restored Austin Healey. She had a lot of folks asking about the car and checking it out. In the end, we got a plaque and a T-shirt from the show.
There were lots of hot rods, some of them very well done. One of the best of show awards went to a Fiberfab Avenger with a Corvair engine ( it is a replica Ford GT-40). There were several late 60's Camaros and Mustangs, all restored to better than new. The E-Type was parked next to a Corvette and he didn't seem to mind having a fine classic LBC on one side.
It was a fun show with lots of nice folks to talk to. We even got some invitations to attend other shows in our area. It looks like we will need to do some detailing in the engine compartment for next year.

This is the best driving season in Vegas so I've been driving the 69 a lot. It's working superb in this weather.
In the high heat of August I was having trouble with sticking brakes, presumably collapsing vac lines, so I parked it for a while. I'm thinking of replacing all of the rubber with hard lines and just short straight bits of rubber for couplers. But as it's running so well now I guess I'll wait a while for that ;-))

Having scooted out quickly between Christmas and New Year (before the snow fell) to fill 'er up before putting into hibernation, I was then plagued with a nasty smell of gas in the garage for a few days. Did I leave the cap off, did I spill some in the fill process? Nothing dripping under the 2+2. Found that the pump gasket was seeping as I had never filled the tank that much before! Drained enough to stop the seepeage and now await the "shows in stock but we don't have it" gasket!
All will be well though in the end. If all I have spent in the last week is a couple of bucks for a gasket, I consider myself ahead of the game.

Drove a few top-down miles on 1E16569's 45th birthday (December 20th).
Drove a few top-down miles Saturday, January the 19th in somewhat sunny 36-degree weather.
Ordered a bunch of parts today, including a new throttle pedal (old one seems to be unhinged).

A biting cold weekend in Toronto and a very cold garage but decided it was time to eventually get the passenger seat moving. I have 3 manuals and none were particularly helpful in instructing how to remove seats. My biggest concern was messing up the release mechanism and not being able to put back together.
All concerns were unfounded: expose two screws, remove, pull hard back and I had a seat out in 2 minutes, mind you it took over an hour to encourage the seat to expose the screws.
An old rag, a long wire and it cleaned up well. Lithium grease and all back in place.
Next week it's the drivers side. Total cost, $9 for the grease with plenty left over for other jobs.
I also read up on the heater fan upgrade: a quick kijiji for a Fiero fan motor, located one in Niagara Falls for $25 and a friend picked it up for me. Future job when I get round to it so I can defrost the screen at will.
E type ownership is not all high cost but I know my time will come.
